Treatment with Psychological Medicine requires your full commitment. Your doctor is committed to helping you. Your commitment is essential.

The 40 minutes allocated for your counselling or hypnotherapy consultation is much longer than consultation times usually made by medical practitioners. This is termed a 'level D' consultation. A level D is equivalent in time to 4 or more consultations conducted by many other medical practitioners.

Level D consultations are generally for psychological-medical problems when the doctor will use therapy such as hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, counselling, stress management, Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and relaxation in addition to other medical treatments.

Your doctor has chosen to allocate this longer time for psychological-medical consultations, so that during this time they will not be booking other people with medical conditions.

If a person is unable to attend for a level D consultation, it is often very difficult to reallocate the length of time to another person at short notice and this means that the doctor will usually not be able to see any other patient at that time which the doctor has made available for your booked appointment.

This is the reason why we require 2 or more business days notice if you are unable to attend for your appointment eg if your appointment is on a Wednesday we require notice on the Monday. This gives enough time so that other people who phone for an appointment can use the consultation time.

The late cancellation or non attendance fee is $60.00 (GST inc.). By the same token if the doctor cannot keep an appointment due to an emergency, a replacement doctor will be sought to keep your appointment.

The fees for consultations for non procedural consultations are based on the length of time for the consultation and the level of medical complexity. Medical services which attract Medicare benefits are GST free.

For a level D consultation, the refund from medicare is $89.75 and therefore the consultation gap is $45.25.

If finances become difficult and a person would like to be referred to a doctor who bulk bills or operates at a lower fee structure we will supply details of the doctor. People are welcome to return to the practice here for further treatment at any time.

Operating costs are such that this clinic does not bulk bill or discount fees. You are welcome to discuss any of these arrangements with the secretaries or doctors here.
