NB GPMHSC additional NEW $200 Training Subsidy available in 2025 for GPs who have previously completed FPS training and are both renewing their Level 2 FPS training and paying for the FPS-CPD training in the remainder of 2025.

This module does NOT contain formal hypnosis training but it is based upon relaxation and relaxation is both an FPS and a hypnotic induction technique and so wording and even casual comments given to the patient need to be very carefully applied to avoid adverse outcomes for the patient/client.

 

The Single Day Mental Health Module is available in 2025 and is being conducted Face to Face at Westmead in Sydney as either:

1. a stand alone Single Day Mental Health Module or;

2. as the first day of the 6 day Clinical Course in CBT-FPS-Hypnosis:

Any eligible health professional can attend the first day of any clinical course if there is availablility as a Single Day Mental health Module in 2025 in order to gain FPS Continuing Professional Development accreditation for Medicare re-registration and for AHPRA re-registration if they are already registered for FPS provision. FPS skills training is required for general practitioners, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists to use the Medicare FPS related Mental Health Item Numbers.

The Single Day Mental health Module

This Module revises and consolidates aspects of CBT and Mental Health Skills Training and Focussed Psychological Strategies (FPS). The training is designed for any FPS registered health professional such as GPs including past graduates of College of Medical Hypnosis courses to consolidate their knowledge of the FPS, e.g. to treat anxiety.

CPD Approvals

The Module is approved by the RACGP for GPs for one Approved Activity with EA 8 hours, RP 6 hours and MO 2.5 hours in the 2022-2025 triennium:

General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC) approved for FPS-CPD and MH-CPD for GPs to meet their Medicare ongoing registration requirements in order for them to use the FPS Mental Health Item Numbers. 

The GPMHSC has approved this Module. The GPMHSC includes the Australian Psychological Society, the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, the Mental Health Council of Australia plus the RACGP and ACRRMPsychologists, social workers, occupational therapists and GPs can use the FPS accreditation for GPs to substantaite their own professional development requirements for Medicare re-registration and for their AHPRA re-registration.

 

The Single Day Mental Health Module training will COUNT TOWARDS the 104 training hours required for the DIPLOMA of CLINICAL HYPNOSIS (CBT-FPS).
